Abstract

HOWAT-RODRIGUES, Anna Beatriz Carnielli; ANDRADE, Alexsandro Luiz de  and  TOKUMARU, Rosana Suemi. Specific Risk – Taking Scale – Evolutionary Domains: adaptation and factorial structure. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2013, vol.12, n.3, pp. 281-290. ISSN 1677-0471.

This study aimed to adapt and collect evidence of validity for the factor structure of the Specific Risk-Taking Scale – Evolutionary Domains to Brazilians. Participants were 1244 people answering EPRE-DE and an online sociodemographic questionnaire. The exploratory and confirmatory analysis supported the bidimensional model (cohesion and competition) for the EPRE-DE, with satisfactory reability indexes for research purposes. MANOVA analysis indicated validity by contrasting groups of the measure as men presented higher risk-taking in both dimensions, as predicted by the literature. We concluded the EPRE-DE is a psychometrically adequate instrument best represented by a bidimensional model that allows the differentiation of groups in the assessed constructs.

Keywords : risk; psychological measure; evolutionary psychology.
