Abstract

The objectives of the present study were to assess the frequency of use of learning strategies, to identify the motivation to learn and to explore relationships between these two variables among 314 Elementary School students. Data were collected using two Likert scales: one to assess students´ learning strategies and other to measure their motivation to learn orientations, both with acceptable internal consistency indexes. Positive and significant relationships between learning strategies and intrinsic motivation emerged. Data was discussed in the light of the literature. Educational implications and suggestions for further research were drawn.
