This research aimed to study creative skills in educational context. We evaluated 193 high school students from Portugal in relation to: same grade and different curriculum areas (Visual Arts - VA; Science and Technology - ST); same curriculum area and different grade (10 and 12); relationship between school performance and creative skills in different years and areas. Assessment was performed with Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking and Test of Metaphors Creation. We found significant differences, with superiority to 12th year and VA. Taking the curricular area, we found significant correlations between academic success and performance in metaphors and fluency, particularly in ST. The results suggest involvement of the school in developing creativity in students and their academic value. However, some questions were raised in relation to the creativity and school performance.

Keywords : creativity; schooling; metaphor creation; psychological assessment.
