Abstract

DIAS, Natália Martins  and  SEABRA, Alessandra Gotuzo. Assessment tests of reading components: investigation of theirs psychometric parameters. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2014, vol.13, n.2, pp. 235-245. ISSN 1677-0471.

According to the cognitive model of reading, several abilities contribute to reading comprehension, such as word recognition, including logographic, alphabetic and orthographic strategies; linguistic comprehension; and fluency. Therefore it is important to have instruments for evaluation of these abilities. This study investigated the psychometric characteristics of instruments to assess these different reading components. Four hundred forty-three students of 1st to the 4th grades of the elementary school were evaluated in the Words and Non-words Reading Competence Test (TCLPP), Auditory and Reading Comprehension Contrastive Test (TCCAL), Computadorized Orthographic Processing Test and Reading Speed Test. Anova revealed significant effect of grade in the performance in all instruments; TCLPP and TCCAL were the most discriminative. The Alpha of Cronbach coefficients figured satisfactory for all tests. The study supplied validity evidences and reliability data to the diverse instruments.
