Abstract

TEODORO, Maycoln L. M.; FROESELER, Mariana V. G.; ALMEIDA, Vanessa M.  and  OHNO, Priscilla M.. Cognitive Triad Inventory for Children: Adaptation and psychometrics properties. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2015, vol.14, n.1, pp. 63-72. ISSN 1677-0471.

Cognitive triad is a construct related to the individual visions about the self, world and future. The aim of the present study was the adaptation and the investigation of some psychometric properties of the Cognitive Triad Inventory for Children (CTI-C). The sample was composed of 594 children and adolescents between nine to sixteen years old (M=12.41; SD=4.95), which filled the CTI-C and the Children Automatic Thoughts Scale (CATS). Confirmatory factor analyses with the CTI-C were made, comparing models based on one, two, three and six factors. Results indicated that the 6-factor model presented the best factorial solution. The convergent validity was evaluated through the correlation between the CTI-C and CATS scores, suggesting significant statistic correlation in all the factors, ranging from -0.54 to 0.63. The evaluation of the Cognitive Triad Inventory for Children showed valid psychometric properties, indicating that this instrument is appropriated for the investigation of the cognitive triad in children and adolescents
