SCORSOLINI-COMIN, Fabio; FONTAINE, Anne Marie Germaine Victorine e SANTOS, Manoel Antônio dos. Parents’ conjugality: Perceptions of married and single individuals. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2015, vol.14, n.2, pp. 223-231. ISSN 1677-0471.
This study aimed to compare childrens’ perceptions on the conjugality of their parents in married and unmarried individuals. There were 374 participants divided into three groups: married (n=118), singles who date (n=140), and singles who do not date (n=116). The instruments used were the Scale of Subjective Well-being, Parental Conjugality Questionnaire and Factorial Scale of Couple Relationship Satisfaction. Descriptive analyses, correlation, and group comparisons were assessed. There were significant differences in parental marital perceptions, with the singles showing a more positive perception. This finding could be explained by the age difference between the groups and not necessarily because they are married or single. The results suggest that developmental age is a relevant variable because of the experience accumulated over time, which would allow a more mature assessment of the family of origin
