OLIVEIRA, Catiane de; NUNES, Maiana Farias Oliveira; LEGAL, Eduardo José  y  NORONHA, Ana Paula Porto. Subjective Well-Being: Linear Relationships to Character Strengths. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.2, pp. 177-185. ISSN 1677-0471.

Subjective well-being has been studied in relation to strengths and virtues. Principal references from Positive Psychology propose six virtues and 24 strengths, whereas subjective well-being is appraised by life satisfaction, positive and negative affects. This study aimed to analyze the association between the level of character strengths and subjective well-being. The authors used two scales, namely the Subjective Well-being Scale (EBES) and the Strengths Scale, with 237 university students. All strengths correlated significantly with at least one aspect of subjective well-being. Negative affect was significantly correlated to only two strengths: creativity and vitality. Life satisfaction items showed 16 significant correlations, and the general factor of subjective well-being also showed 16 significant correlations. The results have partially confirmed the theoretical assumptions. The authors discuss the influence of cultural aspects and the need to empirically test the assumptions of Positive Psychology

Palabras clave : positive psychology; subjective well-being; evaluation.
