Abstract

ALVES, Irai Cristina Boccato; ROSA, Helena Rinaldi; SILVA, Marlene Alves da  and  SARDINHA, Luís Sérgio. Intelligence assessment: Literature review between 2005 to 2014. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2016, vol.15, n.spe, pp. 89-97. ISSN 1677-0471.

This investigation intended to present a review of Brazilian literature addressing intelligence assessment from 2005 to 2014, using as the search terms “intelligence assessment” and consulting the SciELO and PePSIC databases. From the 208 articles initially obtained, the 72 selected articles presented empirical research of intelligence tests. The objectives were to determine which tests were studied and to define research objectives, samples used, and research types. Results identified 26 different tests studied with a total frequency of 96, as several studies applied more than one test. The Wechsler Scale and Raven’s Progressive Matrices were the tests most frequently applied. New tests and tests under construction were also studied. Children constituted the most frequent samples, and psychometric studies on the tests the most prevalent, as well as studies with diverse types of clinical samples. Thus, a panorama of research was presented, in order to support the systematization of knowledge about intelligence assessment

Keywords : intelligence; literature review; psychological evaluation.
