Abstract

GABARDO-MARTINS, Larissa Maria David  and  FERREIRA, Maria Cristina. Psychometric Properties of Perceived Work and Family Demand Scale. Aval. psicol. [online]. 2019, vol.18, n.3, pp. 276-284. ISSN 1677-0471.  http://dx.doi.org/10.15689/ap.2019.1803.16152.07.

The demands of work and family are related to the perception of the responsibilities of individuals with their work and family. This study aimed to obtain initial evidence of validity for the Perceived Demands of Work and Family Scale. The sample consisted of 507 workers, of both sexes (female = 56.8%), with ages varying from 16 to 66 years (M = 34.26, SD = 10.02). Confirmatory factor analyses revealed that the correlated two-factor model presented the best fit indexes; and multi-group confirmatory factor analyses indicated that the parameters of the items were invariant among the different groups analyzed. The work demands correlated positively with work overload, and family demands negatively with the ambiguity of roles in the family. The psychometric properties of the scale suggest its future use in Brazilian investigations aimed at evaluating the demands of work and family.
