Abstract

MORAES, Márcia  and  SILVA, Cristiane Moreira da. Technology and subjectivity: intimacy mediated by computers. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2006, vol.12, n.19, pp. 44-53. ISSN 1677-1168.

This paper aims to investigate the production of subjectivity in relation to new information technologies, mainly virtual diary. The research is theoretically based on contemporary authors who study this subject, and focuses on an ontogenetic perspective of the relation between man and machine. From this point of view, in the process of subjectivity production, subjectivity is an effect of heterogeneous connections that articulate human and non-human actors. Thus, it is considered one of the effects of technical mediation. Field research was conducted with 10 subjects from different Brazilian cities, and a semi-structured questionnaire was used for data collection. The results indicate that virtual diary produces new modalities of subjectivity, friendship and personal relations.

Keywords : Subjectivity; Technology; intimacy.
