Abstract

GASPARD, Jean-Luc. Toxicomania: family complex and the father’s figure. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2007, vol.13, n.2, pp. 243-252. ISSN 1677-1168.

Clinical assistance in health centers to adolescents’ or young adults’ parents, in speech groups or individually, highlights some needs in the transmission of the paternal function, found at the core of family bonds pathology. Thus, a movement of psychic elaboration capable of supporting a real and a phantasmal separation process may begin. Based on the account of assistance to a mother, this text, referring to Lacan’s teaching of the function of drugs, proposes a reflection on the subjective position in toxicomania, explained by the author as the way each subject supports himself in relation to knowledge and its determinations, his inserting himself or not into the social bonds, and his accepting or not the responsibility for its enjoyment.

Keywords : Toxicomania; Assistance to parents; Paternal function; Family complex.
