Abstract

LUIZ RIBEIROI, Sérgio  and  AMELIA LUZIO, Cristina. The Curricular guidelines and the formation of the psychologist for the mental health. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2008, vol.14, n.2, pp. 203-220. ISSN 1677-1168.

This article analyzes the curricular guidelines for Psychology courses, seeking to identify their guidance for the psychologist training turned toward the area of Mental Health, in the perspective of psychiatric reformation and psychosocial care. The study makes use of documentary analysis on those guidelines, the National Conference on Mental Health, ordinances of the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Ministry of Health, as well as proposals of the Psychology Teaching National Association, based on studies on mental health psychologist training and the Psychosocial Care model. The analysis points out that the guidelines conceive the psychological phenomenon as a social and multi-determined production, but do not guide the mental health psychologist training, as mentioned above, although a trend towards the health field can be detected, based on the Community-Preventive model. In that sense, the guidelines are of little help to break the traditional clinical model.
