BASSOLS, Miquel. The genes legend and brain readers. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2009, vol.15, n.1, pp. 17-27. ISSN 1677-1168.

Between psychoanalysis and cognitivism, between psychoanalysis and neurosciences, there is no intersection point, as they are disjunctive fields, without convergence or a common object. The reason for that, a very simple one, is expressed in different ways in the pages that follow: when compared, psychoanalysis and cognitivism, just as psychoanalysis and neurosciences, deal with distinct and radically heterogeneous realities. The real characteristic of psychoanalysis, the real that Sigmund Freud approached with the concept of the unconscious and that Jacques Lacan wrote with the letter of object a, that lawless real that does not attend to probability nor to chance and that is defined, at last, as the impossible, as that which does not fail to write itself, is a real that does not overlap nor can it ever be found in the object-to-be real of neurosciences. In that real in which science presupposes a written knowledge, already constituted, psychoanalysis reads the blank page of the unconscious subject.

Palavras-chave : psychoanalysis; neurosciences; the real.
