Abstract

This essay focuses on the problem of the insertion into therapeutical housing services of patients coming from long hospitalization in psychiatric facilities. It is a relevant issue in the sense of considering the necessary conditions for building a viable housing place in psychosis. For such, the study reflects on what ‘living’ means; the relations between “living” and language; what demands can be found in social bonds; and specificities of the insertion of ‘madness’ into social relations. The subject is approached in a psychoanalytical perspective, with the presentation of clinical cases accompanied with therapeutic monitoring, especially those in which housing represented a difficulty. Thus, we consider the challenges of this proposal, emphasizing the possibilities of intervention not only in patients, but in the institution as well
