This study is aimed at understanding the everyday life of mothers after learning about their children's hearing impairment diagnoses. Seven mothers whose babies were diagnosed with profound hearing loss at the Audiological Research Center with the HRAC-USP, participated in this research. Based on qualitative approach, the analysis of the results adopted the phenomenological method. The study showed that children's hearing impairment diagnoses negatively interfered with the life-path of mothers participating, however, following the intervention of the team, they were able to face the situation with a new perspective, from the elaboration of the diagnosis. Negative feelings within mother-baby relation could pose a potential risk factor, thus, identifying the factors of this relation which negatively interfere with the child's development may help the mother in the acceptance of the diagnosis process, and, consequently, in the establishment of a healthy relationship with her child
