This article presents the results of a master's research "The reasons produced for violence against women by the team of the specialized police station for women in Betim-MG" (2015), which sought to understand the reasons for violence against women by Team of the Specialized Delegate of Assistance to Women (DEAM) of Betim-MG and the cross referencing of these reasons in the handling of the services provided to women. The qualitative research was conduced at the DEAM, where semi-structured interviews were conducted with the ten professionals who make up the team of this service. Recorded and transcribed interviews were submitted for content analysis. It was possible to perceive that the DEAM team understands that the interruption of the violence suffered depends on the attitude of the women. Firstly, preventing violence from happening and then deciding, without hesitation, to continue the police investigation and judicial process, with the aim of punishing the perpetrators. The reports of women suffering from recurrent or unsafe violence in the face of the opening of an inquiry and the continuity of the process were interpreted as signs that they themselves are responsible for the violence suffered
