Abstract

XAVIER, Luizanil Benedita  and  COTRIN, Jane Teresinha Domingues. Psychological assistance in the public health care network regarding complaints of indiscipline at school: critical reflections . Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2018, vol.24, n.1, pp. 19-39. ISSN 1677-1168.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5752/P.1678-9563.2018v24n1p19-39.

This article presents reflections arising from a research on psychologists’ practice assisting children from public schools in the city of Cuiabá, state of Mato Grosso, dealing with complaints of indiscipline. The present study is meant to investigate the significance psychologists attribute to indiscipline at school; the theoretical approaches they are based on; the tools and/or methodologies they use in their praxis; as well as the contribution Psychology provides to schools. This qualitative study investigated psychologists who work for the city healthcare network and is based on the historical and cultural perspective of human development. The results show that the psychologists who were surveyed assist a high number of students showing problems of indiscipline and although they understand the indiscipline as resulting from the organization of the school and the family model, they face a significant restriction to deal with the matter, which is the type of assistance proposed within the Healthcare network.

Keywords : Indiscipline; Indiscipline at school; Psychologists assistance; Cultural historical theory; Public healthcare network.
