GONCALVES, Davidson Sepini. The feeling of guilt in Freud: between anguish and desire . Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.1, pp. 278-291. ISSN 1677-1168.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5752/P.1678-9563.2019v25n1p278-291.

The sense of guilt feeling was greatly treated by Freud. Highlighted as the major problem of the development of civilization and as an attribute of the unconscious that is linked to anguish, guilt seems to be truly present in the structure of human wish. It is revealed in many ways, ranging from remorse (Freud mentions the remorse that he felt about his brother’s death) to neurosis, becoming a difficult problem to be solved. This article aims to understand the guilt in Freud’s work from the Oedipus complex, overseen here as a source of this feeling and later on present in the development of superego, a moment in which guilt and anguish come closer to each other. Nevertheless, without claiming to deplete the subject, it hopes to contribute to the understanding of this important feeling that often emerges at the psychoanalytic clinic.
