Considering the importance of social interaction for children’s sociocommunicative development, the present research aims, based on a theoretical review, at bringing into light a discussion about the similarities of interactive contexts of children diagnosed with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD), and children with visual impairment, laying emphasis on the sociocommunicative aspects. Among the similarities between such children, the literature points out the difficulties to express and recognize emotions, the occurrence of repetitive behaviors, and the loss of shared-attention. Thus, taking into consideration the interactive contexts, the studies approaching this field highlight the importance of the mediator’s bi-directionality and responsiveness, so as to enhance those children’s social interaction, as well as the use of directive linguistic styles and concrete objects, based on the children’s behavioral and socio-communicative features. It is finally highlighted that the understanding of interacting contexts may contribute to the elaboration of intervening proposals which aim to empower such children’s development.
