Abstract

BRONDANI, Renata Petry  and  ARPINI, Dorian Mônica. Reflections upon the conflict with the law in adolescence: excluding contexts, "invisible" families. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2019, vol.25, n.2, pp. 790-804. ISSN 1677-1168.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5752/P.1678-9563.2019v25n2p790-804.

Bearing in mind the context of invisibility to which many families are exposed, this study aimed to approach some characteristics of the public assisted by an institution in charge of socio-educational measures of confinement for youngsters in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. In order to achieve the objectives of a qualitative research, ten semi-structured interviews were carried out, five of them with five adolescents and other five focusing the teenagers’ family members. The adolescents’ institution reports were also investigated and a documental source was used to get to overall data. Data analysis unveils similarities in these family experiences such as: slum residences; low payment jobs; families with number of children superior to fertility rate; poor education level and teenage pregnancy. Having that in mind, it is understood that those families live with sufferings and vulnerabilities, which lead them to overcome obstacles through the strengthening of their bonds.
