Abstract

HOEPERS, Aline Daniele  and  TOMANIK, Eduardo Augusto. Domestic violence against women: a look by way of affections. Psicol. rev. (Belo Horizonte) [online]. 2021, vol.27, n.1, pp. 01-20. ISSN 1677-1168.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5752/P.1678-9563.2021v27n1p1-20.

The aim of this paper is to discuss how women living in situations of domestic violence feel, that is, which are the affective consequences of this process upon them. The first step was the presentation of theoretical discussions about affections and domestic violence against women. Thereafter, we showed some emotional expressions of women in situations of domestic violence who attended a follow-up group at the headquarters of the Public Defender’s Office in the state of Paraná, Brazil. It was under these circumstances, in 2017, that the focus group meetings occurred, and field research was conducted. We rely on the contributions by González Rey concerning Qualitative Epistemology and on the social constructionist movement as theoretical and methodological framework. The results revealed women who felt frightened and ashamed, cloistered in relationship dynamics crossed by domestic violence, which put on show a field of challenges towards the construction of non-violent ways of bonding, feeling and living.

Keywords : Emotions; Women; Domestic violence.
