The group psychotherapy has an enormous potential of applications in the general hospital which go from group psychotherapy with insight for neurotics patients with mild symptoms of anxiety and depression in an outpatient psychiatric service till a psychoeducation group for diabetes patients. In this paper the authors shows a variety of group applications both of short and long duration. They stress the importance of the long-term support group leading by a psychotherapist psychoanalytically informed.
