Abstract

SANTOS, Manoel Antônio dos. Adoptive parents' perception of a group experience: a systemic construction. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2004, vol.5, n.5, pp. 29-36. ISSN 1677-2970.

This work has the objective of considering the new meanings created and negotiated during a closed, time-limited group process in which nine candidates to adopt a child took part. Results show that the group constituted a context for social investigation in which one could realize new meanings that emerged along the adoption process. Negotiating these meanings produced changes in the roles and positions each adoptive parent assumed during group process. At the end of intervention, it could be verified that the group had broaden its possibilities of success in adopting children that do not fit the conventional expected profile.

Keywords : Adoption; Social constructionism; Meaning construction.
