Resumen

We discuss the possible reasons for the contemporary crisis of psychoanalysis. It is belief that these possible reasons are connected to six different causes: the growth of bio-medical model and the use of drug prescriptions in the treatment of mental diseases, the individualism which causes a community isolation, the social-economic deficiencies that difficults the psychotherapeutic treatments, the challenge of higher efficiency in contemporary medicine, the cultural change of postmodernism and the growth of mystical and new-age ideologies. Furthermore, we consider some corrective measures used in American Psychoanalytic Association and Mexican Group Analytic Association.
