Abstract

TERZIS, Antonios. The psychoanalitic explanation of myth and dream. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2005, vol.6, n.2, pp. 19-27. ISSN 1677-2970.

The present study consists of two parts. The first one aims at an understanding of dreams and the comparison of their mechanisms to those of the myths. In its second part those phenomena are described which produce ideas and desires repressed in the unconscious because of their dangerous contents and where they become the material from which myths are made. It is evident that the Freudian theory refers to the unconscious as a place for storing repressed desires, which under certain conditions reappear through the production of dreams, myths and works of art.

Keywords : Psychoanalisys; Myth; Dream.
