The muscular distrofia is an illness that harms the corporal musculatura mainly, making it difficult the locomotion. In the majority of the cases, the cognitiva area sufficiently is preserved, and the carriers of the illness remain conscientious all of its physical limitations during the process. The present study he had as objective to promote improvements in the quality of life of familiar of carrying patients of muscular distrofia, through a group of psychological support. A mother and a grandmother of carriers of muscular distrofia had participated of this study. The group sessions had happened in the clinic of Psychology of the University of Ribeirão Preto, with duration of 50', being co-ordinated for one of the authors of this research and guided by the other author. After a session of evaluation of the difficulties found for the participants stops with the understanding and handling of the carriers of muscular distrofia, had been carried through 16 sessions of group, being worked subjects as to be perceived as people in the familiar environment, difficulties with regard to auto esteem, new practical for the education of the children, etc. The results had been remarkable, therefore the familiar ones had told that changes in its thoughts had occurred for obtain same, while people and members of a family, besides having had changes in its daily behaviors with regard to taking care of its children with muscular distrofia. Studies of this nature can contribute so that familiar of people with some type of difficulties physical and/or psychic it can improve in the quality of life.
