Abstract

PICOLO, Camila Caparroti Rotiroti Dal  and  FERNANDES, Beatriz Silveiro. Redefinition of group and elderly. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2008, vol.9, n.2, pp. 50-55. ISSN 1677-2970.

This work is a critical description of group psychotherapy with institutionalized elder people. The therapist focused his job in attending the patient expectations, always reflecting upon his techniques and the way she handled the group considering the patients age. This study also tries to understand the death meanings constructed by this population and the powerless feelings of those people when facing the end of their lives. Finally, it defends that the therapist needs to reflect about the aims of the group and the necessary adaptations when working with elder people, being flexible about the techniques aspects.
