Abstract

PENNA, Carla Maria Pires e Albuquerque. Large groups: dynamic and therapy. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2009, vol.10, n.1, pp. 19-25. ISSN 1677-2970.

This paper aims to present the first works conduced with Large Groups in England, almost unknown within a psychoanalytical view in Brazil, presenting the pioneering contributions of John Rickman and Pierre Turquet, who postulated in 1975, a fourth basic assumption - Theory of Oneness - presented in unstructured large groups. This article emphasizes the importance of group-analytic psychotherapy to turn to theoretical research and practice with large groups who bring interesting perspectives to contemporary group work, involving violence, trauma and conflict within and between groups. It is worth noting that these studies have been conducted in several countries in Europe.

Keywords : Groups; Group psychoanalysis; Group size.
