Abstract

ANDREA, Maria Amélia. Brief groups: a new and possible experience in the current reality. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2009, vol.10, n.1, pp. 34-39. ISSN 1677-2970.

This paper describes the way I have organized psychotherapeutic groups with a pre-determined number of sections after passing the new regulation ANS 9656 Law which determines that all health insurance plans have to provide twelve sections of psychotherapy a year to their users and also it presents my reflections about these short term groups. In this brief way of working it’s not possible to make any big structural changes, but, no doubt, they are a result from reflections and experience exchange. It’s possible to highlight each individual’s knowledge about himself/herself and help them in the search for unsolved matters, besides providing patients the possibility of not feeling alone in their pain. Because it is a short term group it has since the beginning a certain deadline, but it can be intensively lived during the process.

Keywords : Group psychotherapy; Brief psychotherapy; Brief group.
