Abstract

FERNANDES, Waldemar José. Mental health: a vision of linking. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2009, vol.10, n.2, pp. 19-26. ISSN 1677-2970.

This study begins with a few considerations about the status of present-day medicine, concerning the excess of diagnosis. It finally concludes that there are no diseases but sick people that, learning from my experience, are different in each case. Then the psychosomatic vision and linking aspects are approached, as well as reflections on dynamic psychiatry, neurosciences and the relationship between the mental health professional and his or her patients. At the end of this study the author proposes that a psychotherapeutic attitude should be accompanied by a mental health professional and adds observations on psychotherapy in general and, particularly, group psychotherapy. The group is a privileged device to fulfill the need of self-knowledge, progress, surfacing one’s potential and puzzling out their own life’s enigmas, among them, that of the formation of symptoms and how their are shown by the body, in its own language, with its particular peculiarities.

Keywords : Psychosomatics; Linkings; Psychotherapy; Group psychotherapy.
