This work presents the results of a study that aimed to investigate the position and the terms that the signifier of psychoanalytical theory occupy in the discursive structure of academic research conducted in graduate studies program in psychology in the State of Minas Gerais. For data analysis, we adopted the Lacanian theory of discourse. We discussed the relationship between psychoanalysis and University, with emphasis on elucidating the emergence of discursive structures about the master and the hysterical in surveys conducted in graduate programs in question.
