Abstract

SANTEIRO, Tales Vilela; SOUZA, Aurélia Magalhães de; SANTEIRO, Fabíola Ribeiro de Moraes  and  ZANINI, Daniela Sacramento. Gathering and reflection group: experience with civil servants throughout a probationary period. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2012, vol.13, n.1, pp. 44-53. ISSN 1677-2970.

The arrival in a new institution and city tends to disrupt the civil servant’s life. This situation causes relational difficulties and requires an effort of elaborating a new reality underlying those changes. Hence, gatherings with a reflection group were offered to help civil servants over the probationary period at a Public University as an extensionist activity. The general aim was to gather the newcoming professionals in a Federal University campus from a town in the Midwest making room for dialogue and interaction. The methodology presumes groups of eight members having weekly meetings which last 1 hour and 30 minutes throughout a year and the use of artistic resources (films, poems, etc.) as tools and launchers of reflections. The report refers to an ongoing work. The activities have achieved adaptive attitudes and the acquisition of new coping strategies for the members, who have, in the artistic expression, mediation that favors interchange on their newsettled labor lives as well as the recognition of the group as a space for mutual support.
