Abstract

MACHADO, Veridiana Silva. The religious experience in Candomblé and the jungian conception of religare. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2012, vol.13, n.2, pp. 30-43. ISSN 1677-2970.

The theoretical study conceives that the religious living in the Candomblé is akin to the religare experience, described by Carl Gustav Jung as a connection to the sacred issues or the transcendent issues of the Self, highlighting the religious function as a manifestation for the human soul. The context of the African religiosity in Brazil and its liturgical specificities are exposed - this religiosity was mainly established because of the religion named Candomblé. Hence, connections with Analytical Psychology are made. Once the similarities between the religion and the religare are identified, it is possible to consider it as relevant to Brazilians to restore the African ancestry, which is also present as a spiritual root.
