Abstract

PEREIRA, Thaís Thomé Seni Oliveira. Pichon-Rivière, dialectics and operative groups: implications for research and intervention. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.1, pp. 21-29. ISSN 1677-2970.

Enrique Pichon-Rivière, Argentine psychiatrist, studied groups and their contradictions, bringing great contributions to the groups area. His work is a valuable legacy for understanding the structure and functioning of groups as well as for the intervention in groups, through the theory and technique of the Operative Group. This paper aims to provide elements for understanding how Pichon-Rivière understood reality and functioning of groups, linking the use of the concept "dialectics" in his work to Bornheim and Haguette ideas about dialectics. It also aims to discuss the potential of his technique as an instrument of intervention and methodological strategy of research, analysing recent papers about researches using the Operative Groups theory and technique.

Keywords : Group processes; Operative group; Psychological intervention; Qualitative research.
