MORETTO, Cybele Carolina y TERZIS, Antonios. Use of greek myths in a psychoanalytic group with teenagers. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.1, pp. 30-42. ISSN 1677-2970.
This article aims to investigate, analyse and understand some psychic formations produced during a work with a group of teenagers, as part of the results of a Thesis in Psychology defended by the Post-graduate studies at the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (PUC-Campinas). The study was based on the theoretical and methodological framework of psychoanalysis applied to groups. A group with eight adolescents was formed. It included both sexes, between 14 and 16 years, in a Psychosocial Care Center for Children and Adolescents, a city in the state of São Paulo. The free association technique was used, making available mythical narratives as a resource to facilitate the associative process amongst the teenagers. The material was analysed qualitatively by the use of dream interpretation technique. It was concluded that the group has been a relevant therapeutic tool, which promotes self-knowledge, understanding and provides emotional relief to its participants. In addition, it was a space for the realization of repressed desires and unconscious manifestation of the participants. Finally, the mythical narratives facilitated adolescents to identify with the mythical heroes and express their feelings.
