LEITE, Larissa Pena  and  PERES, Rodrigo Sanches. Supportive Groups for Breast Cancer Patients: Current Overview. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2013, vol.14, n.1, pp. 55-67. ISSN 1677-2970.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the scientific production concerning the application of supportive groups with breast cancer patients. The material was obtained in the PsycINFO, MedLine, and LILACS databases using the keywords “supportive group” and “breast cancer” and contemplating papers published between 2001 and 2011. The 101 references located were selected through inclusion criteria and only 15 references were considered relevant to this study. It was noted the predominance of randomized clinical trials that prove the efficacy/effectiveness of supportive-expressive group therapy. However, this intervention remains fairly unknown, and, in order to reverse this stiuation, it is recommended that researches be developed and applied in national context.

Keywords : Supportive groups; Breast neoplasms; Psycho-Oncology.
