Abstract

LIRA, Aline Nogueira de; MORAIS, Normanda Araújo de  and  BORIS, Georges Daniel Janja Bloc. The LGB parenting in the scene: the everyday lives of lesbian women with their children. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.1, pp. 74-91. ISSN 1677-2970.

This article investigated the everyday lives of four lesbian women and their children. An open interview was used to collect data. The interview analysis identified the following: 1) lesbian mothers tend to develop parenting roles in a cooperative way, however, it was observed that the strategy used by them to form their families and have their children may interfere in how they manage their parenting tasks and 2) the conduct of lesbian mothers that discuss sexual orientation with their children seems to contribute to the reduction of homophobic stigmatization in their lives. We conclude highlighting that social and emotional bonding is the basis of family relationships, showing that parenting goes beyond sexual orientation.

Keywords : family; lgbt parenting; lesbian; homosexuality.
