Abstract

SOUZA, Tatiana Machiavelli Carmo  and  SOUSA, Yara Layne Resende. Public policies and violence against women: the southwestern reality Goiás. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.2, pp. 59-74. ISSN 1677-2970.

The study aimed to investigate the implementation of public policies aimed at combating violence against women in social assistance institutions (Specialized Reference Center for Social Assistance) and Public Safety (Specialized Police for Assistance to Women) southwest of Goiás. We conducted semi-structured interviews with five coordinators and six psychologists of Women's Police Stations and CREAS. Qualitative data were interpreted in the light of the content analysis. It was found that policies addressing violence against women are not properly implemented in the region investigated, thus professionals find difficulties in the exercise of their work. There was also a shortage of theories and techniques to guide the work of psychologists in this field.

Keywords : violence; gender; social psychology; human rights.
