Abstract

NASCIMENTO, Gicelma Barreto  and  HENRIQUES, Rogério da Silva Paes. The exclusion of the subject from the medical practices in the hospital context. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2015, vol.16, n.2, pp. 120-135. ISSN 1677-2970.

This study aims to investigate, by means of linking theory, practice and research, the issue of excluding subjectivity in hospital environment. We briefly present the relationship between medicine and science, trying to understand at which point medicine stopped worrying about subjects and became interested in diseases. Trying to understand what to do to address the problem of excluding subjects in hospital environments, we report two clinical cases assisted by a multidisciplinary team of a public hospital. Based on those cases, we discuss about the psychologist practice in that context, showing that psychological intervention in the hospital environment aims to listen to the subject who was excluded from medical science.

Keywords : subjectivity; hospital environment; exclusion of the subject.
