Abstract

HUEB, Martha Franco Diniz. Institutional sheltering and adoption: a necessary dialogue. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.1, pp. 28-38. ISSN 1677-2970.

Our aim is to discuss the importance of preparing children/adolescents and to promote the dialogue between institutional and judiciary staff to provide adoptions with lower risk of return. Both the disconnection from the biological family and the wait by the foster family are followed by the anxiety inherent to the development of new bonds, indicating important psychosocial aspects that require interventions. By using theoretical discussions associated with clinical practice, we conclude that institutional technicians must create a safe space so that children/adolescents can be heard and understood when going through such process, in addition to communicate habits, personal likes and preferences for the judiciary psychosocial staff with the purpose of facilitating the transfer of values and affection to the surrogate family.

Keywords : institutional sheltering; adoption; children; adolescents.
