Abstract

This is an experience report, aiming to introduce a process of deinstitutionalization, that has been experienced by a psychology student through therapeutic accompaniment (TA) practice. Participants were the accompanied and the companion of the process and the field diary was used as instrument, with records of 42 meetings. The experiences and the data analysis procedure were based on the cartographic method. Changes in the understanding of concepts in the field of deinstitutionalization and mental health were evidenced, reinterpreted through the experience. It was concluded that, by mapping this process, reflections and problematizations were performed, demanding the accompanied's ethical and political availability to deinstitutionalize positions settled in the relationship.
