Abstract

The study aimed to investigate perceptions and feelings of women who became pregnant as a result of rape on sexual violence and pregnancy. Multiple cases design was adopted, with semi-structured interviews. Three participants aged between 20 and 31 years were interviewed, recruited from a maternity hospital in the city of Fortaleza. The perceptions and feelings of women about violence and pregnancy proved lively and intense, blending representations of guilt and fear with feelings of shame, anger, despair and disgust. Among many thoughts and feelings, the multidisciplinary team stood out as key support, influencing new meanings of life for women who were marked by the experience, but were able to move on.
