Abstract

DETOMINI, Vitor Corrêa; RASERA, Emerson Fernando  and  PERES, Rodrigo Sanches. Sexuality and mental health: experiences, services and stigma. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2016, vol.17, n.2, pp. 81-95. ISSN 1677-2970.

A systematic review of the literature on sexuality and mental health was conducted regarding the period from 2000 to 2013, based on searches on PsycINFO, PePSIC, BVS and SciELO-Brazil databases. References found were selected according to established inclusion criteria. The corpus was constituted by 38 references, which were analyzed quanti-qualitatively according to a set of dimensions. In general, though positive aspects have been found, most of the references indicate stigma, prejudice and neglect from institutions and professionals regarding mental health users' sexuality. Worrisome data were found about professionals' lack of ability towards the subject of research, but a few references also add ressusers' conditions and rights to fully live their sexuality.

Keywords : sexuality; mental health; mental health services.
