SILVA, Mônia Aparecida da et al. Emotional health of community agents: burnout, stress, well-being and quality of life. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.1, pp. 20-33. ISSN 1677-2970.

This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence of burnout, stress, quality of life and subjective well-being in community health agents (CHW), seeking to link these variables to professionals´ sociodemographic and work characteristics. Participants were 74 CHW, most female with high school education, mean 2,5 years in employment. Instruments were used to assess burnout, stress, subjective well-being, and a sociodemographic questionnaire was also used. Results showed high levels of burnout and stress, but good levels of subjective well-being and quality of life. Relationships between burnout, stress and poorer subjective well-being and quality of life were found. Time in employment was related to emotional exhaustion, phase of stress and negative feelings. The CHW are emotionally frayed, and there is a need to create interventions for this population.
