Abstract

LORDELLO, Silvia Renata  and  SILVA, Isabela Machado da. Resolution no. 510/2016 of the National Health Council: a review. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.2, pp. 06-15. ISSN 1677-2970.

The recent approval of Resolution 510/2016, which deals with the specificities of the humanities and social sciences, represents a breakthrough and considers the pluralistic perspective of science as also the theoretical-methodological diversity of this field. This paper aims to present a review of the historical aspects and ethical standards that underlie the resolution, and to indicate its advances and challenges. Innovations presented by Resolution 510/2016 are described, such as the recognition of free and informed consent as a process that requires trust between subjects and researchers, whose communication must be adapted to the characteristics of individuals and groups. Limitations regarding its operationalization are also discussed. Future studies are suggested to investigate the feasibility of the resolution.

Keywords : professional ethics; experimental subjects; scientific research - psychology; scientific research - social sciences.
