ARAUJO, Ivy Campista Campanha de; NASCIMENTO, Danielly Bart do  and  NASCIMENTO, Célia Regina Rangel. Ethical and methodological challenges present in the study with families and children in the adoptive context. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2017, vol.18, n.2, pp. 58-73. ISSN 1677-2970.

This study aims to analyze the ethical and methodological challenges present in the study of families and children in the adoptive context based on the Resolution n. 510, from 2016. It discusses the historical changes to the process of adoption in Brazil and the value of the children’s perspective in research. It considers the subject of care in approaching the adoptive family and children when presenting a research and along the data collection by illustrating ethical and methodological procedures using a case study. It is suggested that an ethical stance and methodological adequacy allows the establishment of the necessary trust between researcher and participants in order to reveal the family relationship, and the difficulties and joys of the adoptive process, which can subsidize effective psychosocial interventions in search of the well-being of adoptive families.

Keywords : ethics in research; adoption; child; family.
