The aim of this study was to measure the level of dispositional hope among adolescents who live in institutional shelter situation.25 adolescents aged between 12 and 18 who were in shelter situation participated. To measure hope was applied the Dispositional Hope Scale. The results showed an average score obtained dispositional hope 29.44, suggesting that family distance and life in the institutional shelter does not harm the expression of hope. Keeping hope in a better future can stimulate a vision beyond the misfortunes and adversities present in the stories of adolescents in institutional shelter situation.
