Abstract

The objective of the present study is to introduce an integrative review of the literature on anticipatory grief in the cancer patient, having as a cut-off the period from 2007 to 2017. The data collection was carried out in periodicals indexed in regional and international databases of bibliographic data (LILACS, SciELO and PubMed). According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria adopted, ten articles were selected, seven of which with a quantitative approach. The results point out the need to know the process of this specific grief, whose experience can be understood either as positive or detrimental to the patient. The importance of the multiprofessional team interventions is emphasized for the best coping of this moment, which can be a time of maturity and preparation for death.
