NAVARRO, Paula; FERES-CARNEIRO, Terezinha  and  MELLO, Renata. Children of late parenting: childhood and adolescence. Rev. SPAGESP [online]. 2019, vol.20, n.2, pp. 6-23. ISSN 1677-2970.

This study aimed to investigate the repercussion of late parenting in childhood and adolescence under the perception of late children. Interviews were conducted with six subjects with ages between 25 and 29 years old, without children, who were born when at least one of their parents is over 40 years old. From the content analysis of the material obtained, emerged as categories: family coexistence; generational mismatches; freedom and autonomy; and conflicts. It was concluded that, on the one hand, the children of late parenting value a life history of the parents, attributing even positive points; on the other hand, recognize that the generational difference can be translated into conflicts and affective distance, in addition, in difficulty of cultural understanding and in educational practices different from the present time.
