Communication between family members and professionals is the main source of information about illness and hospitalization of patients in ICU. This qualitative study aimed to develop a guideline script of family members' questions, from doubts identified with family and professionals. Were carried out ten interviews with professionals working in public hospital ICU in Minas Gerais and 11 with family members. The results were organized in the form of 21questions were defined for the facilitation of communication, covering questions related to the structure of ICU and aspects of the patient's evolution. The guideline script of family members' questions can contribute to indentify the information needs of family members, to the planning and evaluation of transmission of information.
